Before we moved to Italy in 2019, we used to fly from the USA to Europe 5-6 times a year, every year. Over the course of that time, we developed a system and a set of habits that helped make long-haul flights overseas as tolerable as possible, especially since we were always flying in economy class.
Cramped spaces, terrible food, dry air, we did our best to find ways to mitigate all those issues. We don’t fly as often as we used to, but we are still on long-haul flights a few times each year.

On a recent overnight trip up to Tuscany for Matt’s birthday, we: got invited to dinner with about a dozen Brazilians; drank a Negroni while we watched the sun set over Monte Amiata; stopped by our favorite leather artisan to “commission” two monogrammed keychains for some dear friends; took a long hot bubble bath; drank espresso as we watched the Yule log burn; and ate a crazy amount of food in two of our favorite restaurants.

In our recent post, we related our disastrous visit to the US at the beginning of December. Theft, Covid, and various travel snafus made for a harrowing time.

Nevertheless when we got back home to Italy, we went about our lives - writing, itinerary work, and organizing music engagements.
