Out of the Way in Chianti

Our focus on small-town travel doesn’t always mean off-the-beaten-track. We spent this past 10 days in Chianti - not exactly an unknown area. But in high-tourist areas like that, we think it's even more important to search out special places - less-known eateries, artisanal gelaterie, and extraordinary activities - to create a memorable and authentic trip experience.

We spent the last week and a half doing just that. The places that really strike us as special (it’s an elusive term, but we know it when we see it - or taste it!) become part of the “roster” of places that we include in the itineraries we craft for our clients. Not every place is a winner - we won’t write much about those if they’re not - but here are a few pics of food and drink that we were really happy to discover on this trip. (And remember that alpacas have to eat, too!)

Now that the summer is halfway over, it’s a bit late to lay out an autumn trip (though it’s not impossible!), but it’s a great time to start planning a trip for the springtime. Let us know if you’d like Little Roads to design a special and delicious trip for you!
